AFTERMATH...A silence had haunted my family for years. Four generations, tortured and abused, within the walls of the Canadian Residential School system. Stripped of language, culture and identity...My family forged ahead. Passing down the shame, guilt, pain and anger. Self medicating on substances to cope...

I personally, grew up hating; the churches and Canadian government. I wanted somebody to pay for the hell unleashed upon my people. This resentment corrupted my whole outlook on life. I set out to influence and corrupt the minds of my own people. I used my artwork and writing abilities. I planted seeds of hate...

 

This mindset, created nothing but problems for myself. I drank poison, hoping those I resented, would suffer a slow death. Those who I loved dearly, those who were closest to me, lost their lives to this poison we call alcohol. With my life spinning out of control...I fled to the province of Alberta, Canada. A place where nobody knew me, a place where I could isolate. I was torn between; let go or hang onto this thing called LIFE. 

 

Today, reflecting on my life, I am writing about the       ~AFTERMATH~... After four generations...A story emerges.

While isolated in Alberta, Canada. I had learned that, we are all going to die...It's better to die trying. Also, my families past, along with mine...Can either define me or destroy me...If I let it. I learned that I can use my past as stepping stones...TO RISE ABOVE.
